That feckless pantywaist Sen. Harry Reid appears to be ready to give the American public the finger by doing exactly what Speaker “No-Grip” Pelosi did to get DeathCare passed in the house…lies, threats, out and out bribery, and everything up to turning tricks in the House chamber to get votes. The latest story is that Reid gave Louisiana’s Mary Landrieu $100 million in federal funds for her vote. That would be our money, by the way.
Meanwhile the bill is a complete disaster for America. A few examples?
The Reid bill still starts hiking taxes and cutting Medicare immediately, while the new spending programs are delayed until January 2014. That’s right, we start paying now on something that doesn’t kick in for years. It would be like buying a house and making the mortgage payments, but living in the back yard for five years.
Costs escalate dramatically in the later years, with spending of $196 billion in just 2019 alone. Without this gimmick, the fully phased in 10-year cost would be not the much-touted $848 billion is about $2.5 trillion.
The so-called “doctors fix” provision of repealing the so-called Sustainable Growth Rate mechanism of limiting Medicare payments to doctors is only included for 2010. So the Reid bill pretends Medicare payments to doctors will be cut by 23 percent in 2011 and stay at that low-level. That’s total BS, because it would drive most doctors out of Medicare. That raises the real price-tag of the bill another $247 billion.
And the hits go on.
Jesse Jackson is even slamming away at those against the bill. “We even have blacks voting against the healthcare bill from Alabama,” Jackson said at a reception Wednesday night. “You can’t vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man.”
You have to love Jesse for throwing that race card all the time, especially when he throws it at black people.
Saturday is make it or break it time for this catastrophe. Will the American people and the Constitution prevail or will we continue to backslide into the abyss?
