Guess who is the stone in this one? And guess who wants the blood?
That’s right, you and I are the stones and our Fearless Leaders want the blood. In the middle of an economic crisis, with unemployment running rampant, entrepreneurs running scared and government spending running amok, it appears that the much talked about debt ceiling hike that the administration wants and the House will be voting on will be moot as soon as they do.
According to the Department of the Treasury, one day before the scheduled vote in the House of Representatives, the United States of America, which includes you and I, will be $14.3 trillion in debt, basically meaning that they have to pass it.
So, here we are, staring down higher taxes in the President’s new budget, with millions of Americans out of work, over a third of homeowners upside-down on their mortgages from all the meddling in the system by Congress, with the costs of everything going up, the trust in the dollar going down and a bunch of what I can only assume are congenitally insane people are running the country…how long do you think it will be before they have to raise that debt ceiling again?
I give it six weeks. Mark your calendars. And for those kool-aid drinkers who email regurgitating blather about ‘Paygo’ I want you to ask yourself to count up how many times Congress and the administration has come up with a plan that they; a) actually stuck to and b) actually worked the way they said it would.
I can count a few: Government pay raises. The White House party budget. Pelosi’s travel budget and bar tab.
How much money are we going to have to fork over so that politicians can live like nomenklatura? How much money will they take from us so they can have Super Bowl commercials, military jets at their disposal, millions in slush funds for flowers, postage, and gourmet lunches for the staff and their big donors?
And how many ridiculous, lobbyist-created, boondoggle, pork-filled pieces of useless legislation costing trillions do we have to pay for from the money that we sweat and sacrifice for? I seriously don’t believe that this Congress and administration will be happy until your entire paycheck goes to the government and then they give you back what they decide you should have.
That is where all this is headed. And it’s NOT the American way.
